The football simulator market has become bipolarized in recent years. Once upon a time, PES (now eFootball) was king, but when it came to PS3 it would end up being dethroned by Electronic Arts’ FIFA, to this day.
Although it is a clear market leader, FIFA is not a perfect game. And many fans crave a quality alternative, and that doesn’t mean paying almost €70 a year for a game where the changes are minimal. Apparently, 2022 could be the year this happens.
UFL promises to be free and fair
UFL is the new game created by Strikerz Inc. and powered by Unreal Engine. This will have a free launch, and in recent days a trailer has been released where we can ‘sniff’ what the graphics and gameplay will be like, with Cristiano Ronaldo in the spotlight.
In addition to the Portuguese ace, it can be seen that Kevin de Bruyne or Romeu Lukaku also collaborate with the new title. The focus will be on the creation of clubs, and the presence of more than 5,000 footballers will be officially guaranteed.
As you can see from the trailer, the preview seems to imply that it will have better graphics than eFootball, and the similarities to FIFA appear to be many. But the focus will be on online modes.
The great asset of the UFL will be to fight directly with the Ultimate Team (from FIFA) and myClub (from eFootball) modes. There will be the profitable part of the game, which will be released “when it is ready” in 2022.
From what we can see in this trailer, it will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The company pretends that it is not a “pay to win”, which could improve its competitiveness.
Sporting CP already has a guaranteed official presence in the UFL
Sporting CP, West Ham United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Monaco, Besiktas, Celtic and Rangers have already been announced as licensed clubs in the game.
