Lightweight Contender Arman Tsarukyan Suspended and Fined for Punching Fan
Arman Tsarukyan, a 22-3 lightweight contender and potential future rival of Islam Makhachev, was suspended and fined for throwing a punch at a fan during his post-fight celebration at UFC 300 last April.
Tsarukyan’s Suspension Reduced with Anti-Harassment Course
The Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended Tsarukyan for nine months, but the sanction will be reduced to six months if he participates in an anti-harassment public service course. This would allow Tsarukyan to return to competition on October 12. He was also fined $25,000.
Tsarukyan’s Manager Commits to Anti-Bullying PSA
"Arman appreciates the NSAC’s dealings in this matter and looks forward to working with the UFC and NSAC to produce an anti-bullying public service announcement to reduce his suspension and compete for a UFC lightweight title before the end of the year," said Daniel Rubenstein, Tsarukyan’s manager, in a statement.
Tsarukyan Awaits Opportunity to Challenge Makhachev
Tsarukyan has previously defeated Charles Oliveira and is now waiting for his opportunity to challenge Makhachev for the lightweight title, following Makhachev’s successful title defense against Poirier.
