Welcome to another chapter of the saga “Alex Pereira: Saving UFC cards”. UFC 303 in Las Vegas promised to be the event of the year with Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler as the main event and Jamahal Hill vs. Khalil Rountree in the co-main event. However, several injuries among which that of the Irish fighter stands out have led to a dramatic turn of events.
Now the main fight of the event will be for the light heavyweight title between Pereira and Procházka, as already happened in November 2023 at Madison Square Garden. In the first fight, the Brazilian knocked out the Czech in the second round and this fight accepted on short notice predicts another train wreck.
Hill’s injury and Rountree’s positive doping test have also led to the fight now being Anthony Smith vs Roman Dolidze at light heavyweight, and it is not even the second most important. That position is now occupied by the featherweight fight between Diego Lopes and Brian Ortega, who will decide one of the next contenders for the title in the division. Despite the last-minute losses, this evening could be historic.
