UFC 257 – Dustin Poirier offers Conor McGregor by TKO in the 2nd round!

MMA – More than 6 years after the first encounter, Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier meet at UFC 257 and in lightweight.

In September 2014, Conor McGregor won by TKO in the first round against Dustin Poirier. Both were playing in the featherweight division at the time and were considered candidates for the UFC. In 2021, everything changed. Prospects have become stars and are now fighting at lightweights. For this rematch at UFC 257, it is simply a chance for the belt that will be at stake.

Round 1: As the two men start in striking, Dustin Poirier decides to change level successfully. He secures the takedown and keeps Conor McGregor on the ground for a few seconds. The Irishman eventually gets up, but faces a Diamond who decides to use his grappling against the cage to tire him out. With the pair still against the cage, McGregor uses stomp kicks and shoulder thrusts to score. The Notorious ends up getting rid of the American and the two men exchange in the middle of the cage. Poirier responds well to the success of his opponent by kicks on his front leg.

Round 2: Kicks on Conor McGregor’s front leg still work for Poirier. If the fight were to last, that might matter. For its part, the Notorious always finds the target, but the American does not flinch. He ends up cornering a McGregor hit by the kicks against the cage after a hook to the eardrum and completely overwhelming him! Victory for Dustin Poirier by TKO!
