UEFA awarded the doctors who saved Christian Eriksen

UEFA on Thursday highlighted the doctors who saved the life of Danish footballer Christian Eriksen, who suffered a heart attack during Euro 2021 in the match between Denmark and Finland.

“This award has to do with what you do in life, more than on the pitch. They put things in perspective for everything they did at this time. They deserve this award, I never had doubts,” explained the UEFA president , the Slovenian Aleksander Ceferin, during the draw for the group stage of the Champions League.

The winners of the European football governing body were Mogens Kreutzfeldt, Frederik Flensted, Anders Boesen, Peder Ersgaard -field doctors-; Morten Skjoldager and Morten Boesen – Danish team doctors; Simon Kjaer -Denmark captain- and Jens Kleinefeld, Valentin Velikov, UEFA doctors.

A few days after saving his life, Eriksen, Inter Italia midfielder, had an internal defibrillator implanted to control his heart rate and avoid possible situations similar to the one that occurred at that time. “The important thing was to show that we can save lives when things are done well,” the doctors agreed during the entire ceremony in the videos.
