Udaipur Files on Kanhaiya Lal Murder Cleared; Son: Nation Will Watch

It’s been a long and winding road for the film ‘Udaipur Files’. Based on the Kanhaiya Lal murder case from Rajasthan, this movie has faced many fights. But now, after legal battles and debates, it is finally ready for its big release.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has given the film the green light. They rejected all earlier objections. This decision lifts the ban that held the movie back for a long time. Moviegoers can mark their calendars. ‘Udaipur Files’ will hit theaters on August 8, 2025.

A Son’s Heartfelt Words

For Yash Sahu, Kanhaiya Lal’s son, this news is a huge moment. He welcomed the central government’s decision. “On August 8, the whole country will see what happened to my father,” Yash Sahu shared. He spoke about the deep pain his family has carried. “Our family’s pain clearly shows in this film. It shows how my father was murdered,” he said.

He firmly believes everyone needs to see this story. “This is a fight we were fighting, and we have won,” Yash Sahu added. He stressed that the film aims to expose terrorism, not target any religion. Yet, the fight for justice continues for his family. “My father’s case is still exactly where it was three years ago,” he explained. “His killers haven’t been punished yet. We don’t know how much longer justice will take.”

The Rocky Road to Release

The film’s journey has been anything but smooth. It was first supposed to come out on July 11. But some religious groups and even one of the accused went to the Delhi High Court. They claimed the film defamed a certain religious group. They also worried it might harm the accused’s right to a fair trial.

The Delhi High Court took these concerns seriously. It told the central government to review the film again. They asked the government to use its powers under the Cinematograph Act. Following this, the central government set up a special committee. This committee suggested a whopping 55 cuts to the film. The filmmakers, wanting their story to reach the public, agreed to all these changes.

55 Cuts and a Clear Path

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry recently confirmed its decision. They stated that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) followed all rules. They also noted that the producer made the extra cuts. The ministry saw no strong reason to ban the film or ask for more changes. So, they dismissed all review petitions against it.

The Filmmaker Speaks Out

With the release date set, producer Amit Jani put out a video online. He announced the release date and urged people to see the film for themselves. He wants viewers to decide if anything in it is truly wrong. “We have tried to make the film as balanced and sensitive as possible,” he said. “Our goal is not to target any community. We just want to show what happened.”

A Gripping Story on Screen

The talented Vijay Raaz plays the main role in ‘Udaipur Files’. The film deals with a very sensitive event. It is based on a murder case from 2022 that shocked the entire nation. The movie tells the story of Kanhaiya Lal, an ordinary tailor. It shows how he posted something on social media. After that, he was brutally killed right inside his shop.

The fight even reached the Supreme Court. When the Delhi High Court put a stop to the film, the producer tried to appeal. But the Supreme Court chose not to change the High Court’s order. So, the central government’s committee stepped in to review the film. After those recommended changes, the film was finally passed. Now, all legal issues are resolved. ‘Udaipur Files’ is all set to premiere on August 8.
