The Cycling World Championships are around the corner, once the Tour de France is finished and will serve as prelude to the Tour of Spain. from 3 to 13 Augustthe Scottish city of Glasgow will host the competition where cyclists will try to conquer the rainbow jersey awarded by this event. For this, the most famous quotes will be the men’s stopwatch AND female and the elite courses for both sexes. As for the riders, among others, Wout Van Aert, Remco Evenepoel, Mads Pedersen, Mathieu Van der Poel will be present for the men’s side. In the women’s field they will be: Demi Vollering, Annemiek Van Vleuten or Lotte Kopecky.
Men’s elite route (August 6)
The runners will start from the city of Edinburgh and travel to Glasgow, completing a total of 272 kilometers between start and finish. As they begin the tour, they will pass along the coast of Scotland’s capital to continue alongside the old part of the city. Once they arrive in Glasgow they must complete ten laps of the circuit to conclude the competition. A day in which they will have to face two important climbs: one at 5.5% for around 3.7 kilometers and another in the locality of arrival at 7.6% for 200 metres. After the latter they will start the circuit.
Favorites: Van Aert, Evenepoel and Van der Poel.
Women’s Elite Time Trial (August 10)
The time trials will take place in the Scottish city of Stirling and finish in the city’s castle. Altogether they will complete a total of 36 kilometers against the clock where the sprinters will face small climbs of 4.7% for the 400m and, at the end of the stage, 5.7% for the last 800m.
Favorites: Demi Vollering, Marlen Reusser and Anna Henderson.
Men’s Elite Time Trial (August 11)
As with the women’s race, the men’s day will start in Stirling and finish in the castle of the Scottish Township. They will have the first 28 kilometers (of the 48 there are in total) where the day will be practically flat until they start with small climbs, highlighting the end where the riders will have to face a 5.5% gradient for 800 metres.
Favorites: Remco Evenepoel, Wout Van Aert and Geraint Thomas.
Women’s Elite Path (August 13)
The cyclists will start at Loch Lomond and finish in Glasgow, where they will cover a total of 156 kilometres. When they reach the completed 62, they will complete a total of six laps on the circuit they have programmed in the urban area. Within this route they will have to face the same two climbs of the men’s category.
