Ubisoft Forms Legal Team to Counter potential Harassment Over Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows is finally nearing its release, and all eyes are on it, not just because it’s one of the most dramatic games of the year, but also due to its controversial character portrayals and historical inaccuracies. The backlash has been so intense that Ubisoft has had to postpone the game’s launch several times, but it’s now set to hit the shelves on March 20th.

Given the game’s drama-filled lead-up, which has seen it face criticism from gamers for months, it’s likely that the controversy will only escalate once it’s released. In anticipation of this, Ubisoft seems to be taking proactive measures to address the potential drama from fans, even before the game’s launch.

According to reports, the company is preparing a legal team, in collaboration with attorneys, to monitor networks and take necessary legal action. The primary reason behind this move is Ubisoft’s desire to protect the Assassin’s Creed Shadows development team from potential online harassment.

To tackle this, Ubisoft is teaming up with the Canadian Communications Security Institute (CSE) to counter threats against game creators. The CSE will closely monitor tweets posted on X (formerly Twitter), comments on Reddit, and even YouTube videos, responding promptly if they detect any harassment of the game’s development team.
