Ubisoft’s beloved Rayman franchise might be making a comeback, and in a big way. Reports suggest the company is secretly developing a new AAA game.
This news may come as a surprise, but Ubisoft still owns the Rayman IP. Last year, they announced they were exploring new directions for the series. It seems they’ve found a promising path, as the game is now in full development.
A Eurogamer report reveals that 12 developers from the cancelled Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown project have joined the Rayman team. There’s also a rumor that the new direction for Rayman wasn’t entirely well-received by Ubisoft’s higher-ups, but it’s shown enough potential to move forward. Ubisoft’s Milan branch is even hiring staff to work on a “AAA Rayman game”.
The good news is that the combined efforts of these teams could lead to something exciting. Ubisoft Montpellier and Milan have a track record of delivering high-quality platformers like Mario+Rabbids, Valiant Hearts, and Rayman Legends.
We’ll have to wait and see what this new Rayman game looks like. If more news breaks, we’ll keep you updated.
