Ubisoft Developing New Battle Royale Game Inspired by Apex Legends, Report Claims

Ubisoft is doubling down on its Live Services strategy despite previous failures with Hyper Scape and XDefiant. The company is secretly developing a new Battle Royale game, codenamed “Scout.” Insider Gaming reports this project has been in the works for years and seems to be heavily influenced by Apex Legends. Character designs like Wraith, Lifeline, and Pathfinder are eerily familiar.

Ubisoft’s top brass believe the time is right to capitalize on Apex Legends’ dwindling player base. But internal research suggests gamers are losing interest in the Battle Royale genre. This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has tried to crack the code. Five years ago, they launched Hyper Scape, which tanked after just two years. XDefiant, their attempt to rival Call of Duty, also fell flat.

The success of “Scout” remains to be seen. Will it carve out a niche in the market or suffer the same fate as its predecessors? For now, it’s a wait-and-see game.
