Ubisoft has launched the South American League (SAL), a Rainbow Six esports tournament featuring a dedicated women’s circuit with a total prize pool of $22,000 (R$ 120,000).
The women’s circuit is a significant development in the Rainbow Six esports scene, which has seen a growing interest in competitive gaming. The last women’s championship, Brava Cup 2023, was won by w7m Esports Female, who took home $5,000 (over R$ 28,000) out of the total $10,000 (around R$ 57,000) prize pool.
Competition Format
The women’s circuit will feature four stages, each with its own open qualifiers. The top six teams from each qualifier will compete in the main tournament, which will be held over four days. The competition will be divided into two days of group stage matches, followed by two days of finals.
Schedule
The tournament schedule is as follows:
- Qualifier 1: April 26-27, Stage 1: May 1-4
- Qualifier 2: May 24-25, Stage 2: May 29 – June 1
- Qualifier 3: August 16-17, Stage 3: August 21-24
- Qualifier 4: October 25-26, Stage 4: October 30 – November 2
The winning teams from each stage will automatically qualify for the next one. Throughout the four stages, teams will accumulate points that will determine their overall ranking. The top four teams will advance to the finals, which will be held live at a yet-to-be-announced location and date.
