UAE Women’s Team Wins by 163 Runs in Thrilling Asia Qualifier Match

The 2025 Women T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier saw a shocking turn of events in the UAE vs. Qatar match on Saturday. The UAE team batted first and scored 192 runs, with Esha Oza hitting 113 off 55 balls and Theertha Sathish scoring 74 off 42.

Unconventional End to UAE’s Innings

The UAE team then retired all their remaining nine batsmen without them facing a single ball. This unusual move marked the first time in international cricket that a team has retired two or more batsmen in a single innings. Oza and Sathish’s explosive opening partnership had already set the tone, taking the UAE to 192/0 in 16 overs.

Qatar Struggles in Reply

Chasing 193, Qatar collapsed to 29 all out. Only Ripza Bano Emmanuel managed to reach double figures for Qatar. A staggering seven Qatar players were dismissed without scoring, adding to the eight UAE batsmen who were retired without facing a ball – a total of 15 players in the match were out without a run on the board.

The UAE bowlers were effective, with six bowlers taking at least one wicket each. Micthell Botha took three wickets, while Katie Thompson claimed two. Heena Hotchandani, Esha Oza, Indhuja Nandakumar, and Vaishnani Mahesh took one wicket each. The UAE won the match by 163 runs.
