The United Arab Emirates cricket team made history on Monday, chasing down a target of 206 runs to win a thrilling T20 match against Bangladesh. With 12 balls left, the UAE needed 29 runs to win. The 19th over, bowled by Shariful Islam, proved to be a turning point. Although Islam dismissed Alishan Sharafu for 13, he conceded 17 runs in the over, including a six and a four by Haider Ali and a four by Dhruv Prashaar.
In the final over, the UAE required 12 runs to win. Dhruv Prashaar hit a six off the second ball to take the team’s score past 200. However, Tanjim Hasan Shakib bowled Prashaar on the next ball, increasing the excitement. After a single on the fourth ball, Shakib bowled a no-ball, which proved costly. The UAE then scored two runs off the fifth ball to seal the win and level the series 1-1.
Captain Muhammad Waseem was the star of the show, scoring 82 off 42 balls, including nine fours and five sixes. He was named the player of the match for his outstanding performance. Waseem and Zahib Khan had earlier shared a 107-run partnership for the first wicket, giving the team a solid start.
Earlier, Bangladesh had scored 205 runs, thanks to half-centuries from Tanjid Hasan and Liton Das. The UAE’s win was their first T20 victory against Bangladesh, and it sets up an exciting decider in the three-match series on May 21.
