It is official, all motorized two-wheelers must undergo a technical inspection from 2023. A decree published on Wednesday, August 11, specifies the implementation of this measure required by the European Union.
In fact, this measure will enter into force on January 1, 2023 and the control must be carried out every two years.
This new technical control therefore affects all motorized vehicles with two, three and four wheels, 50 cm3 scooters and cars without a license included.
As for cars, for which it was introduced in 1992, the technical inspection must be carried out in an approved center and renewed every two years, or before any resale of the vehicle.
For vehicles registered before January 1, 2016, the first verification will take place in 2023, then in 2024 for vehicles registered between 2016 and 2020 and in 2025 for vehicles registered in 2021.
For now, the price of the check is unknown, but that of a car costs between 70 and 100 euros depending on the location and the vehicle.
If the technical control is not presented, the driver risks a fine of 135 euros and the immobilization of the vehicle.
