Portugal’s two-time reigning European futsal champions will host Ukraine in December for a pair of preparatory matches ahead of their 2026 title defense. The Portuguese Football Federation announced the games are scheduled for December 19 and 21.
Both matches will take place at the Dr. Eduardo Mansinho Pavilion in Tavira, a city in southern Portugal. The games are set to begin at 7:45 PM local time.
This marks a return to Tavira for the national futsal team after a 12-year absence. The last time the team played in the city, at the same pavilion, was a 1-1 friendly draw against Spain.
The 2026 European Championship will be co-hosted by Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia. The tournament runs from January 21 to February 7.
Portugal is drawn into Group D for the championship. Their opponents will be Italy, Poland, and Hungary. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
