Two minors died and four others were seriously injured in a traffic accident that occurred this Monday on a street in a small town in Broward County, north of Miami (Florida), local media reported.
The event took place on a street in the town of Wilton Manors, when a car rammed into a group of children and fled.
At the moment, the age and identity of the minors is unknown, as well as that of the driver of the car that hit them and if they have been charged with criminal charges.
Two of the minors died at the scene of the accident and four others were rushed to Broward Health Medical Center, where three of them are in stable condition and another in critical condition.
The ages of hospitalized minors are 1, 2, 6 and 9 years old.
Aerial images from Channel 6 South Florida showed firefighters and police officers next to two bodies lying on the ground covered with yellow plastic.
"This is a heartbreaking afternoon for everyone, for the families and for the rescuers who came to the scene. It’s a horrible situation for the whole community"said Miranda Grossman, a spokeswoman for the Broward Sheriff’s Office, picked up Local 10.
The Police are currently investigating the causes and circumstances of the fatal hit-and-run of the driver.
