Two men are arrested as suspects in the murder of police officer Alexis Meireles in Marconi

Two men aged 20 and 22 (with two previous convictions) were imprisoned Two raids were carried out in the neighborhood this Monday afternoon Marconi for the murder of police Alexis Meireles, 37 years old.

Meireles was murdered in the early hours of this Monday while conducting a check in the neighborhood, police sources told News Agency. He was transferred to the Capitán Tula Polyclinic in Piedras Blancas and then to the Police Hospital, where he died at around 1:50 a.m.

The other police officers who were on site were uninjured. They said they were searching three suspects in Guárapirú and Tomás Burgueño when they heard gunfire from another location.

They pointed this out from the Interior Ministry Underlined that there was no confrontation with him – or the attackers – because the troops were trying to protect themselves. According to police, the shots came from a residential building in the area. Seven cartridge cases from a 9 millimeter caliber pistol were confiscated in front of a house.

The victim – who worked in Police Zone 3 during the investigation – had two children aged 11 and 7.
