It’s not uncommon to have people in your follower list that you don’t want to share your life with, and so far the only alternative to hiding your profile has been to block them. Now you don’t need to do this anymore, because Twitter has finally added a button to easily remove a follower from your account.

Twitter’s support page announced last month that the company would make it easier to remove a follower or, as it explains, allow “ to be the curator of his own list of followers “. After testing this feature with limited groups, Twitter now makes it available to all users on PC. It does not seem to be available on mobile yet.

How to delete a follower on Twitter?

To delete a follower on Twitter, go to your profile and go to the “followers” section. Find the person you want to block and click on the three-dot menu next to their name. Click on “Remove this follower”, and you’re done. It is important to note that the followers you remove will not be notified of this change.

This practice, called “soft blocking,” is different from standard blocking in that it allows the deleted person to continue to see your tweets and send you a direct message, but they will not see your tweets on their thread. The problem is that she will always have the option to follow you again if she realizes that you have deleted her from your followers. However, if they subscribe to your profile again, you will have no choice but to consider blocking them directly.

This discreet action can help alleviate platform users’ concerns about privacy and abuse. Previously, if users wanted to achieve the same effect, they had to block and unblock a follower manually. This is not the first time that Twitter has fought against these unwanted followers, since the social network recently proposed a mode that automatically blocks troll accounts.
