The poor quality of Twitter videos has been a constant throughout the platform’s history, but it looks like that could change.

Twitter removed a pre-processing step when uploading a video, which could mean the video’s fidelity will be closer to the original version.

A researcher named Jane Manchun Wong uploaded a video to test the supposed improvements, and the resulting video appears to be less pixelated Than Could Have Been However, it’s nowhere near as good as a high-quality YouTube or Twitch video.
This update only applies to newly uploaded videos, so older videos will not see the improvements.
That said, it’s promising to see Twitter strive to improve its video experience, which has lagged behind other platforms.
