Twitch blames the hack for a failure in the server configuration

Twitch suffered a massive data breach earlier this week when an unknown attacker managed to bypass the company’s defenses and steal a ton of information.

The company just announced at that a configuration change on a server caused the leak. He also gave some information to reassure concerned users.

One of the most critical parts of the stolen information was the Twitch payment information for top creators. This information dates from August 2019 and shows how much the top breeders earn.

Twitch explained that the leak was made possible by an error when changing the configuration of a server.

The company also said that is not aware that account login information has been stolen. That’s good because it’s what worries people the most about this whole thing.

Equally, credit card information is not part of the leak. Full credit card numbers are not stored on Twitch’s servers, so they are secure.
