Twelve Palma Volleyball players test positive for COVID-19

The coronavirus outbreak in the Volleyball Palma of the Volleyball Super League continues to increase and already affects twelve of the thirteen players that make up the Balearic club’s squad, after a new confirmed case in the last hours.

In a statement, the Mallorcan team announces that only one player has tested negative, although “In view of the outbreak that has devastated the team, a PCR test will be carried out to rule out that the result obtained in the antigen test is not a false negative”, specifies the club.

He adds that this Tuesday three more positives have been known in the covid-19, which added to the eight registered on Monday, “They give a total of eleven, to which must be added the case of the player who tested positive a little over a week ago”, says the Palma Volleyball.

All staff members are in their respective homes and the club expects them to return to training after the Christmas parties once the quarantine period has passed.

Voley Palma had already announced that the outbreak in the team “It started with the positive of a member of the staff”, and that from there he performed the tests on the rest of the players.

Added that it is already “working” with the members of the campus to find out the “current state of covid”, after the suspension of the game that ten days ago was going to face Rotogal Boiro, but which at the time was postponed due to the positive of a member of the squad.

The outbreak in Voley Palma has appeared before the Christmas break of the Superliga and, according to the club, “It will help the players to recover well from the virus and to be able to return to training next week, already with the last covid-19”.
