Turkey builds wall to block influx of Afghan migrants

It stretches almost as far as the eye can see. On the Turkish border with Iran, a wall is being built. The goal ? Prevent the arrival of new migrants, mainly from Afghanistan, where the Taliban have regained power.

In Van province, the 3-meter-high wall is being built over 5 km, reinforced with barbed wire and trenches.

So far, 156 km of wall has been completed along the border with Iran, 499 kilometers long. The goal is to reach a total of 243 km.

Today, Turkey is home to 3.7 million Syrians who fled the war and fear, with the return of the Taliban, a new influx of migrants, this time from Afghanistan.
