Today is the 99th anniversary of the birth of Tuntun, the first female comedian in Indian cinema. Tuntun’s identity was made of comedy, but very few people know that before that she has been recognized as the best Uma Devi singer. She was born on July 11, 1923 in Amroha. At the age of two and a half, Tuntun’s parents were killed to take possession of the land.
After this his brother took care of him butHe wasn’t just killed when he was 9 years old. When Tuntun was orphaned, he had to take refuge with relatives. Relatives used to make Tuntun do all the housework and behave as servants for two meals a day. He passed the time and one day he met the excise officer Akhtar Abbas Qazi and this meeting turned into friendship, but this time it didn’t stop long either.

During Partition, Akhtar Abbas went to Pakistan and lived in poverty in Tuntun. One day, upset, Tuntun left everything and fled to Mumbai. There was no support for her here, so he went to Naushad’s house and started asking her to give him a chance to sing, but if Naushad didn’t agree, he threatened to take her own life by throwing himself into the sea. So what Naushad had to accept and from here she started her career as a singer.
His first song was a huge success, after which he sang 40-45 songs. Then, when the songs stopped coming, at Naushad’s urging, she began performing. Her first film was Babul with hers in love with her Dilip Kumar. Her role in this movie was called Tuntun, which she liked so much that her name was changed from Uma Devi to Tuntun. Tuntun has worked on 198 films over 5 decades. She was last seen in movies in 1990. Then in 2003, after a long illness, she said goodbye to the world.
