Tunisian actor Mohamed Dhrif, known for his role as a father in “My dear child”, is dead

Tunisian actor Mohamed Dhrif, who had received awards abroad, notably at Cannes for the role of the father in My dear childdied at the age of 72, the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs announced on Monday (February 6th).

Mohamed Dhrif, who first became known in Tunisia on television in the 1980s, notably in the police series Ebhath Maanadied on Sunday evening, according to the ministry, which offered its condolences to his relatives and “to the whole creative and cultural family”.

“My dear child”

He had acted in several Tunisian films including The man from the ashes by Nouri Bouzid in 1986, and masterfully embodied the father in My dear child (Weldi), by Mohamed Ben Attia in 2018.

For this role of a Tunisian middle-class father whose only son disappears to wage jihad in Syria, Mohamed Dhrif received the best actor award at the El Gouna festival in Egypt (2018) and at the African film festival in Tarifa. in Spain. He had obtained a similar consecration from the Arab Cinema Center on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.

Mohamed Dhrif had also left his mark on national radio, particularly radio Monastir, where he had gained experience in writing radio plays.
