Yuki Tsunoda is getting a major promotion. Red Bull just announced he’s replacing Liam Lawson, starting with the third Grand Prix of the 2025 Formula 1 season. And it just so happens that race is in Tsunoda’s home country, Japan.

Tsunoda took to social media right after the announcement, posting a photo of himself in Red Bull gear. His message was short and sweet: “I’m ready for the challenge.”

Leaving a Mark

Tsunoda’s former team, Racing Bulls, responded with a heartfelt video on their social media channels. In it, Tsunoda thanks the team and fans for their incredible support over the years. He’s been with the Red Bull family since 2021 and has participated in 89 events.

“Hey everyone, it’s Yuki,” he says in the video. “I just want to thank the team and the amazing fans of Racing Bulls for their fantastic support. It’s been an incredible experience with so many special memories. I’m staying in the Red Bull family, so I won’t be far away. See you in the paddock.”

Tsunoda’s spot on the Racing Bulls team will now be filled by Lawson, who’s returning to the team he previously drove for in 11 races across two stints in 2023 and 2024.
