Trump says he has been charged in investigation into handling of classified documents

Former Republican President Donald Trump (2017-2021) pointed out on Thursday on his Truth Social social network that he has been defendant in investigation into handling of classified documentsbut assured that he is an “innocent man”.

“I never thought it possible that something like this could happen to a former president of the United States who received more votes than any other president in the history of our country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social today.

The US Department of Justice notified Trump that he was being investigated for keeping classified documents after leaving the White House.

The reaction of the former president and favorite for the 2024 Republican primaries has been forceful and defiant, indicating that the President Joe Biden’s “corrupt” administrationinformed his lawyers that he has been charged “apparently for deception of the boxes” (where there were supposedly confidential documents).

He charged Biden and accused him of having 1,850 boxes with documentation in the University of Delaware and additional ones in Chinatown, plus “documents scattered all over the floor in his garage where he parks his Corvette,” a spot secured only by a thin garage door, open most of the time.

He noted that he has been summoned to appear in Miami Federal Court next Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. local time (7:00 p.m. GMT).

“This is indeed a dark day for America. We are a country in serious and rapid decline, but together we will make America great again!” he said.

The letter, which was received by his legal teamrepresents a new advance in the investigation, led by special counsel Jack Smith, into Trump’s handling of hundreds of classified documents that were found by the FBI in his mansion in Florida.
