Trump Reveals Putin’s Request for Meeting Amid Ukraine War
Donald Trump, the newly elected President of the United States, disclosed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his desire to meet with him as soon as possible. However, Trump did not confirm whether the meeting will take place. He made this statement during a forum organized by the ultraconservative organization Turning Point in Phoenix, Arizona.
Trump described the ongoing war in Ukraine as “horrible” and emphasized his intention to bring a swift end to the conflict. He stated, “Millions of soldiers have lost their lives, and the numbers are staggering. It is imperative that we put an end to this war, as it is utterly ridiculous.
Putin had previously expressed his willingness to meet with Trump “at any time,” although he was uncertain about the timing of the potential meeting. The Russian leader mentioned that he and Trump had not spoken in four years and that he was open to discussing and meeting with him at any time.
Trump’s Stance on the Ukraine War
Last week, the Kremlin reported that Putin had not received an invitation from Trump to attend his inauguration, scheduled for January 20. Trump, who recently met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has repeatedly stated that ending the war in Ukraine is one of his top priorities upon returning to the White House.
Designating Mexican Drug Cartels as Terrorist Organizations
Trump announced that he will declare Mexican drug trafficking cartels as foreign terrorist organizations when he assumes power on January 20. He stated, “All foreign gang members will be expelled, and I will immediately designate the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. I will do so immediately.”
Trump accused other countries of sending their “drug traffickers” to the United States and vowed to dismantle, deport, and destroy the entire criminal network operating on American soil. He made these statements after commenting on the presence of members of the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua, in Aurora, Colorado.
The hard wing of the Republican Party has long advocated for considering drug traffickers as terrorists and intervening militarily in Mexican territory to combat them. However, the Mexican government has warned that it will defend its sovereignty.
During his speech, Trump described Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum as a “lovely woman” but emphasized that Mexico must stop drug trafficking on the border.
