The situation between the US, Israel, and Iran is getting more complicated. Donald Trump, the US president, won’t say if America will join forces with Israel to attack Iran. But he did wish Iran’s leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, “good luck” after Khamenei said his country won’t back down.
Trump talked to reporters at the White House and said he might or might not take action. “You don’t know what I’m going to do,” he said. “I may do it, I may not do it. Nobody knows what I’m going to do.” He also said Iran has many problems and wants to talk, but it’s too late for that now.
The US president said Iran contacted him about negotiating, but he told them it’s too late. “It’s too late for that,” he said. “There’s a big difference between now and last week.” Despite this, Trump still uses “we” when talking about Israel’s military actions in Iran, even though his government has said the US isn’t directly involved.
Trump said the fighting might end soon, but he’s not sure. “Next week could be worse than this week, or it could be better,” he said. He also sent a message to Khamenei after the Iranian leader said his country won’t give up. “Good luck,” Trump said. When asked if he’s lost patience with Iran, Trump said, “It’s over. That’s why we’re doing what we’re doing.”
Trump still thinks it’s not too late to find a diplomatic solution, but he rejected an offer from Russian president Vladimir Putin to help mediate the conflict. “Help yourself first,” Trump said. “Solve your own problems before worrying about this one.”
