A breakthrough in the Middle East conflict is unfolding. Donald Trump, the US President, announced that Israel and Iran have agreed to a joint ceasefire. This development is expected to take effect within 6 hours and could mark the end of the 12-day war.
According to international news outlets, Trump stated that Israel and Iran will completely stop firing at each other in a matter of hours. He expressed hope that this ceasefire will be permanent. Trump made the announcement via social media, saying, “A deal has been reached between Israel and Iran for a complete and total ceasefire… The war will be over in 12 hours.”
Neither Iran nor Israel has commented on Trump’s announcement, which claims that the ceasefire will occur within 24 hours. Trump outlined the ceasefire plan, stating, “Iran will start the ceasefire, and at hour 12, Israel will start their ceasefire… At hour 24, the world will officially see the end of this 12-day war.”
US Vice President JD Vance praised Trump’s efforts in securing the ceasefire. In an interview with Fox News, Vance said, “We were working on that when I left the White House… It’s good news that the president was able to get it across the finish line.”
Vance also revealed that he had read a draft of Trump’s statement before it was released, about 2 minutes prior. Although the final version was slightly different from the one Trump had shown him earlier, Vance emphasized that Trump had been working on the phone throughout his journey to finalize the agreement.
The US Vice President also discussed Iran’s nuclear capabilities, stating that the country lacks the ability to develop nuclear weapons due to the destruction of their equipment. When asked about Iran’s uranium storage facilities, Vance dodged the question, saying it was unnecessary. He added, “Our goal is to bury that uranium, and I think it’s been buried.”
