Trump Administration Prepares to Cut Harvard Funding by $100 Million

The Trump administration is reviewing funding for Harvard University, planning to cut off support that doesn’t meet their standards. This move is part of a broader effort to target the prestigious school.

The General Services Administration will send letters to federal agencies, asking them to identify contracts with Harvard and consider canceling or redirecting the funds. About 30 contracts worth over $100 million are under review.

Harvard is accused of discriminating against Jews. The university hasn’t commented on the latest move, but its website notes that its medical, scientific, and technological research relies on federal and other funding.

Without this support, Harvard warns that research into cancer, heart disease, and other illnesses would be at risk. However, the US government won’t immediately cut off funding. Instead, it will review Harvard’s federal funding to determine its importance.

The GSA will recommend that agencies cancel contracts that don’t meet their standards and consider moving the funds to other organizations. Tensions between the US government and Harvard have been escalating, with the university suing over a $2.2 billion funding freeze in April.

Recently, the Trump administration tried to strip Harvard of its rights to international students, a key source of donation and tuition income. A judge temporarily blocked the order.
