BEIJING: A truck rammed into people attending a funeral in China, killing 19 people and injuring 20 others.
According to international media reports, local media say that a truck ran over a funeral procession in Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province, killing at least nineteen people in this traffic accident.
State broadcaster CCTV described the accident as a ‘major traffic accident’, and said it happened just before 1am local time on Sunday.
A woman told local media that people were paying their last respects to the body on the side of the road before it was taken away for cremation on Sunday morning, when a truck overturned and crushed the people.
A man said his wife, who attended the funeral, also died in the accident. He said that the truck suddenly hit the back row and reached the funeral car crushing the people.
According to media reports, the accident was caused by fog. About an hour after the news of the accident, the Nanning County Traffic Police issued a travel advisory to drivers, saying that the area is covered with fog and visibility is low. Be careful.
