Trout sets scoring record as Angels beat Toronto 12-0

Mike Trout hit a two-run homer to become the all-time leading scorer for the Los Angeles Angels, who snapped a six-game losing streak with a 12-0 rout of the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.

Reid Detmers and four relievers combined for a six-hit performance. Jo Adell homered twice, Andrew Velasquez hit a two-run shot and Shohei Ohtani hit a two-run triple for the Angels, who came into the game after losing nine of 10 games.

Trout scored his 1,025th career run with the Angels, hitting his 27th home run off left-hander Yusei Kikuchi in the eighth inning. With the home run, the star surpassed Garrett Anderson, as the Angels player with the most runs scored.

Adell hit a solo homer off lefty Kikuchi in the seventh and added a two-run shot off position player Whit Merrifield in the ninth.

With his two home runs he reached six in the campaign.

Velasquez hit a two-run homer off right-hander Mitch White (1-4) in the third inning, giving him seven homers on the year. White gave up seven runs and eight hits in five innings.

For the Angels, the Venezuelan Luis Rengifo 5-1.

For the Blue Jays, the Dominicans Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 5-1, Teoscar Hernández 1-0, Raimel Tapia 3-0, Santiago Espinal 4-1. Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 4-1. Mexican Alejandro Kirk 2-1.
