Tropical waves and cyclone-potential events will bring rain to 21 Mexican states

Caracas.- The path of tropical wave No. 18, which is linked to a low-pressure zone with cyclonic potential, will bring heavy to heavy rains in at least 22 Mexican areas this Thursday, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) of Mexico reported.

“The heaviest rains will be accompanied by electric shocks, strong gusts of wind and hailstorms and could lead to landslides, rising river and creek levels, flooding and flooding in low-lying areas of the above states,” the Mexican authority warned.

According to the SMN, which is dependent on the Mexican government’s National Water Commission, Tropical Wave 18 will travel through the center, south and gradually toward western Mexico.

At that time, the weather authorities expected the interaction of this phenomenon with a low-pressure channel and instability in high layers of the atmosphere, which would lead to rainfall on Mexican territory.

Rainfall is expected to be heavy in Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas; “Very strong” in Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, State of Mexico, Mexico City, Morelos, Puebla, Veracruz and Tabasco.

For the Mexican states of Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo, the SMN is forecasting “selectively heavy” rainfall as well as intermittent showers in Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato and Queretaro .

The SMN of Conagua de México also estimated wind gusts of up to 60 kilometers per hour and waves of up to three meters high on the coasts of Oaxaca and Guerrero.

The Mexican monsoon, in turn, will maintain conditions for heavy rains with thunderstorms and possible hail in the north of the country, while creating a low-pressure channel over the southeast and the approach of a new tropical wave in the Yucatan Peninsula Heavy rains in Chiapas and heavy rains on the said Peninsula.

Eventually, anticyclonic circulation in the middle layers of the atmosphere will keep areas in the northwest, north, and northeast of the state warm to hot, with maximum temperatures in northern Baja California potentially exceeding 45 degrees Celsius.

In this sense, the authorities recommended taking preventive measures, such as: B. avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun, staying hydrated, paying special attention to the chronically ill, children and the elderly, and following the instructions of the health sector and civil protection.

Low temperatures of between zero and five degrees Celsius are forecast for the morning in the mountain regions of Chihuahua, Durango and Hidalgo.
