Triumphant return of Xevi Pons

has not lost qualities Xevi Pons after two years of inactivity. The former Super 2000 world champion and five-time champion of Spain on clay returned to competition in the Terra da Auga Rally, the second date of the Cup of Spain on Earth, and he prevailed without giving any of his rivals an option, winning all the timed sections.

Pons last raced in Lorca in 2020, and since then he has dedicated himself to collaborating with different riders, including Dani Sordo, and to set up their own competition team. Once he has got everything underway, he has decided to return to Galicia, to the Terra da Auga Rally, an event he has already won in 2018 and 2019. And he has done it in a big way, winning all the specials at the wheel of his Skoda co-piloted by Rodrigo Sanjuán.

The Czech vehicles were the dominators of the Galician test, since Pons was accompanied on the podium by two other Fabia piloted by the Uruguayan Rodrigo Zeballos and Félix Macías. Fourth place went to Daniel Alonso’s Citroën, closing the list of the top five for former champion Oriol Gómez with his Volkswagen.

The Galician event was the second scoring for the Toyota Iberian Cup, and the final winner was Sergi Francolí, who had a close duel with Daniel Berdomás.
