Trina Solar and Arbro Pump $158M into Huelva’s Green Hydrogen Plant

Trina Solar International System, a company within the Trina Solar group, and the Spanish firm Arbro are developing an industrial project for clean and sustainable energy. The first phase of the project, which is already underway, involves an investment of €158 million for the construction of a green hydrogen production facility in Huelva.

The Mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, received a delegation from the companies, led by LinHui Sui, President of Trina Solar, and Adrián Torres, CEO of Arbro. Miranda hailed the project as a major success for the city, indicating that it would be a key development in the “third industrial revolution.”

The project aims to produce 20,000 tons of green hydrogen per year by 2027, when the facility is expected to be operational. This will require the creation of at least 50 direct and stable jobs, as well as indirect and induced jobs generated during the construction and maintenance phases.

Trina Solar is a global leader in the manufacturing of solar photovoltaic modules and electrolyzer modules, with a strong focus on large-scale renewable energy projects worldwide. Arbro has a specialist background in the development of renewable energy projects with over 20 years of experience.

The two companies are planning to begin construction of the facility in 2025, pending the necessary permits and approvals. The 30,000 square meter facility in the Huelva Business Park has already been reserved through a land rental agreement with SEPE.
