Trey Thompkins: “I’m happy to be back with the team”

On Friday, Trey Thompkins returned to play 250 days later. The power forward, who was injured on May 9 in a match against Valencia Basket, entered the squad due to the COVID casualties of Rudy Fernández and Walter Tavares and He was one of Real Madrid’s most outstanding players: he finished with 10 points and 2 assists in just over 13 minutes on court in the Madrid victory against Baskonia.

Thompkins, after the match, acknowledged that he was very happy for his reappearance, but somewhat tired due to the lack of rhythm. “I have felt very well, although a little tired because training is different from games but, above all, I am happy to return. The worst feeling is not being able to help the team, not being able to fight with them, traveling… That’s why it’s been very good for me to be able to be together with my teammates in a match”.

Thompkins, who landed at Real Madrid in the summer of 2015, confesses that he has “never” lost confidence in himself. “My teammates and the coaching staff have helped me and made me stronger by making everything easier for me so that I could only focus on my recovery. I’m going to keep working hard to reach the best possible level and thus help the team”.

Real Madrid meets Casademont Zaragoza this Sunday (5:00 p.m.) and on Thursday he will visit the Alba Berlin stadium in the Euroleague (8:00 p.m.).
