Trek-Segafredo signs Eritrean Natnael Tesfatsion

The team Trek-Segafredo has announced this Friday that it has signed the young cyclist for the next two seasons Eritrean Natnael Tesfatsion, currently in the ranks of the pro-continental Italian team Androni, with whom he has participated twice in the Giro d’Italia. Born in Asmara 23 years ago, Tesfatsion will coincide in his new team with his compatriot Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier, of 28.

“Joining Trek-Segafredo is the best opportunity I have had so far in my life. I really want to thank everyone who has helped me get to this point and, of course, the team management for the trust they have placed in me. I have a new and big challenge ahead of me, but I am happy and super excited to face it. I really feel that my dream has come true. As part of Trek-Segafredo, I am sure that I will be able to improve my skills and grow more and more in the next two years. I really want to do my best to contribute to the team’s successes and repay the trust they have placed in me. This motivation and the desire to make my country proud will be the engine to stand out at the highest level”, explained the Eritrean in the official statement from the American team.

Tesfatsion has won five races as a professional: a stage in both the Tropicale Amissa Bongo, two overall wins in the Tour of Rwanda, 2020 and 2022, and in June he won the queen stage of the Adriatica Ionica Race. Also signed three top-10 stages of the Giro d’Italia in 2021 and 2022.
