Pinch-hitter Justin Upton homered to tie the game in the eighth inning and Abraham Toro drove in the winning run in the ninth as the Seattle Mariners beat the Oakland Athletics 2-1 on Saturday.
The Marinerso loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth inning: Lou Trivino (1-6) walked Eugenio Suarez; Carlos Santana singled and Cal Raleigh got a base on an error by shortstop Nick Allen.
Toro then hit a single that drove in pinch runner Marcus Wilson for the winning run.
Diego Castillo (6-1) won the victory.
For the Mariners, the Dominicans Julio Rodríguez 4-1 and Carlos Santana 4-2. The Venezuelan Eugenio Suarez 3-0.
For the Athletics, the Dominican Ramón Laureano 4-1. Puerto Rican Viamel Machin 2-1.
