Torey Lovullo becomes Diamondbacks manager with most wins

Madison Bumgarner pitched solidly into the seventh inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks made Torey Lovullo the franchise’s winningest manager with a 9-3 win over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.

Bumgarner (2-1) gave up a two-run homer to Jorge Soler in a rough first inning, but allowed just two hits the rest of his outing. He ultimately gave up two runs on six hits with five strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

Jordan Luplow hit a two-run homer off Jesus Luzardo (2-3) in the first inning. The Peruvian pitcher gave up another first-inning homer against Arizona, a two-run shot by Luplow. The lefty was retired with two outs in the third inning after giving up two walks.

Arizona has won seven of eight and this was Lovullo’s 354th victory, breaking Kirk Gibson’s record with the team.

For the Marlins, the Venezuelan Miguel Rojas 5-2 with a run scored; Jesus Aguilar 5-0; Avisail Garcia 4-1. Cuban Jorge Soler 4-1 with a run scored with two RBIs. The Dominican Jesus Sanchez 4-0.

For the Diamondbacks, the Dominican Ketel Marte 3-0 with a run scored; Geraldo Perdomo 4-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. The Venezuelan Jose Herrera 4-0.
