Russia’s top court has declared the country’s top cyber security official, Ilya Sachkov, a traitor and sentenced him to 14 years in prison.
According to foreign media, the Supreme Court of Russia has sentenced Ilya Sachkov, the country’s top cyber security officer, to 14 years in prison for treason.
Sachkov was arrested by Russia’s Secret Service in December 2021 on charges of passing classified information to foreign spies.
A year before his arrest, Sachkov, a cyber security expert, caused an official stir when he accused President Vladimir Putin’s cyber security envoy of making scathing statements in the presence of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
