The semifinals of the playoffs for the title are already defined. The last to buy the ticket was Barça, who has resolved the tie against Valencia Basket on the fast track and almost without suffering in this second game (64-87) where he has been master since the first minute the ball was in play. The Taronja team says goodbye to the season leaving a bad image and with a lot of work ahead this summer to revive the team.
Barça started better, finishing the first quarter, doubling the Taronja team on the scoreboard (13-26). The great success from the line of three (6 of 10) and the bad hand of the Valencia Basket players (0 of 5) in triples, made the Catalan team leave on the scoreboard. Abrines and Mirotic dominated the scoreboard at will and only good minutes from Harper at the beginning and some isolated action from Dubljevic kept the locals alive in the game, who, at all times, felt the breath of a bursting Fonteta.
The second quarter was a continuation of the first. Barça played at their leisure in the face of the sometimes impassiveness of Valencia Basket, which seemed as if nothing was at stake. The taronja team was only able to score a triple in the first twenty minutes of the game and they were not being forceful in the paint where Vesely was the owner. Kuric scored two triples in a row, Jasikevicius’ men left at halftime with a great advantage on the scoreboard (26-43). The taronja fans, who were being patient, fired his team with a big puff.
Satoransky took out the rifle in the third quarter to sentence, if he was not already, the game and seal the ticket for the semifinals. Once again, the shot from the line of 6.75 (7 of 8) praised Barça for dominating this period from start to finish. Valencia pulled claw and pride, but was not comfortable in the match. A Claver robbery raised La Fonteta who already knew that the season had its minutes counted (47-67).
Valencia wanted to put emotion at the end of the game. A triple from Hermannsson brought his team closer to the score (+14) and, perhaps it was the desire of people who did not want the campaign to end, but the public dreamed of a comeback. Nothing is further from reality. Mirotic with another triple, he opened the distance again in the electronic.
The points from Evans and Harper tried to make up a score that oscillated between 18-20 points difference throughout the match. La Fonteta fired his team with a tremendous whistle and the Barça players celebrated their move to the next round.
Barça will be in the semifinals where Unicaja awaits. The first game will be next Wednesday. Valencia, for its part, has said goodbye to a season that, at times, looked like it was going to be good but that has finally been “ugly”.
