Ouch! Looks like even superheroes need a time-out. Tom Holland, the beloved actor behind our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, took a bit of a tumble recently. Reports on Sunday, September 21, from Variety confirmed he suffered a mild concussion.
The incident happened on Friday, September 19, right on the set of his upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Holland, 29, is English, and his team quickly decided he should take a break from filming. It’s a smart move to let him recover properly. Producers are set to meet on Monday, September 22, to figure out how to best move forward with the production schedule. Meanwhile, an entertainment news publication reached out to Holland’s team for their take on the situation.
Fans had already been buzzing since Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios announced in early August that a fourth Spider-Man movie starring Holland was officially underway. The excitement grew when the official Spider-Man social media accounts shared a video of him back in his iconic Spidey suit.
Holland himself shared his enthusiasm. On August 10, he posted an update from the set on Instagram. He wrote, "My fourth first day on Spider-Man. You know, it’s funny putting the suit on. It feels different this time, in some way. It’s also the first time we’ve had fans on set on the first day. So it’s very exciting to share this with them. I’m just going to do my best. Hopefully it turns out well. No pressure."
Still, it seems a little bump on the head couldn’t keep him down for long. Just a day after his injury became known, on Saturday, September 20, Holland looked absolutely fine. He and his fiancée, Zendaya, stepped out for a special event in London. This wasn’t just any gathering; it was for The Brothers Trust, a charity Holland runs with his three brothers: Sam, Harry, and Paddy Holland.
The actor played host at the annual Posh Pub Quiz, held at Christie’s. He even suited up in a sleek black tuxedo – quite the contrast from his usual web-slinging gear. Zendaya, also 29, matched his elegance in a black dress. A guest named Laura Hope Whitaker shared pictures on her Instagram, giving everyone a peek into the glamorous evening.
Whitaker described the night as "one for the books!" in her caption. She added, "We hugged, chatted, sang and attempted (and lost) the pub quiz. But we got autographed spoons, so I think we actually won." She even shared a sweet moment from the event: "We chatted with Tom, his family, and met Zendaya. The best line of the night was when she met Nicky and said, ‘I’ve heard so much about you!’"
The couple’s appearance comes after news broke in January that Holland and Zendaya were engaged. His father, comedian Dominic Holland, happily confirmed the news in a blog post on January 10. "The big news this week is a good example of this kind of opportunity for me – are they or aren’t they engaged?" Dominic wrote. He joked about the intrigue, with Zendaya wearing a ring but Tom nowhere to be seen. "The engagement has already been confirmed and that’s why I mention it here, although without adding anything new or interesting like the date, place or guest list…"
Dominic revealed some lovely details, too. He mentioned that Tom "bought a ring. He talked to her father and got permission to propose to his daughter." Talk about a seal of approval! It’s clear that even a small injury won’t slow down this busy star, especially with his charity work and wedding plans on the horizon.
