Tom Cruise Earns Honorary Oscar; Co-Star Anil Kapoor Calls It ‘Deserved’

Hollywood actor Tom Cruise recently received an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards on November 16. The accolade recognizes his illustrious career and significant contributions to cinema.

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor was among those celebrating Cruise’s achievement. Kapoor publicly congratulated his former co-star, expressing immense happiness for the recognition.

Kapoor shared a special picture of Cruise accepting the honorary Oscar on his Instagram story. He accompanied the image with a heartfelt message for the Hollywood icon.

The two actors previously worked together in the 2011 action-spy film, ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’. This movie marked the fourth installment in the popular ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise.

In ‘Ghost Protocol,’ Cruise reprised his role as Ethan Hunt, with the storyline involving the IMF being falsely accused of bombing the Kremlin. Kapoor played a supporting role in the high-stakes production.

During the Governors Awards ceremony, Cruise delivered an emotional acceptance speech. He spoke about his deep connection to filmmaking.

“Films take me around the world,” Cruise stated. “They teach me to respect different cultures and understand our shared humanity. In the darkness of the theater, we all laugh together, cry together, hope together, and that is the power of cinema.”

Cruise emphasized his dedication, adding, “For me, making films is not just work; it is my life.”

The star-studded event saw attendance from numerous Hollywood celebrities. Among them were Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dwayne Johnson, Emma Stone, Michael B. Jordan, and Sydney Sweeney.
