The latest chatter in the celebrity world spun a surprising tale this week. Whispers began circulating that football legend Tom Brady thought actress Sofía Vergara was “too old” for him to date. This bold claim quickly grabbed headlines and raised eyebrows.
However, a representative for the 47-year-old athlete was quick to set the record straight. Speaking to Us Weekly on Thursday, July 10, Brady’s team firmly stated he would “never” say such a thing. “Tom never said, nor would ever say, anything like that,” his representative clarified. “It’s pure fiction.” News of this strong denial was also reported by People magazine.
The rumors connecting Brady and Vergara, who is 53, started earlier in the month. Both stars were spotted enjoying a trip aboard the new Ritz-Carlton superyacht, Luminara. Vergara herself shared moments from the lavish journey on her social media. One photo she posted showed her seated at a table alongside Brady and musician J Balvin.
On July 1, Vergara posted the picture to Instagram. She wrote, “What a perfect weekend, full of surprises! ❤️ thanks.” She also tagged @mark.limited, @dougchabbott, and @ritzcarltonyachtcollection. The photos made it seem like a cozy gathering.
The truth is, Vergara and Brady weren’t traveling alone. They were part of a massive celebrity gathering on the yacht. The guest list was packed with famous faces, including Martha Stewart, Kendall Jenner, Naomi Campbell, Kate Hudson, Nina Dobrev, Shaun White, and Irina Shayk. In total, around 400 guests were expected to enjoy the two-night trip from Rome to Malta. This large group setting suggests their interaction was part of a bigger social event, not a private romantic getaway.
Brady has also been quite social lately beyond the yacht trip. He recently attended Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos’s wedding. Reports from TMZ suggest the Fox NFL commentator “danced with everyone” at the reception and after-party. He was seen having a good time with single women like Sydney Sweeney and Brooks Nader.

Brady finalized his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bündchen in October 2022, after more than ten years of marriage.
