Tokyo Olympics: the French handball team in the final

The match was suspended until the end, but the French men’s handball team secured their ticket to the final of the Tokyo Olympics. The Blues beat Egypt, 27-23.

The game had started badly for the Habs, quickly leading 5-1, in the sixth minute. Thanks to the saves of goalkeeper Vincent Gérard, little by little they returned to the mark, erasing their deficit when they returned to the locker room for half-time (13-13).

In the second half, the Blues had to fight to the end to defeat the Egyptians. The 5 goals from Dika Mem and Hugo Descat (including 4 from penalties) did the most good, to gradually emerge (21-18 in 45me minute). Despite several numerical inferiorities to negotiate and an opponent who sometimes went back to two extremes, the Blues were assured to the end to win 27-23.

Therefore, they will have the opportunity to win a third Olympic gold medal, after those of 2008 and 2012.

The final will be played on Saturday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m. France will face the winner of the second semifinal, which this Thursday faces Spain and Denmark.
