The Christian community around the world, including Pakistan, is celebrating Easter today on April 17. On this occasion, special prayers and prayer ceremonies have been organized by the Christian community in various churches throughout the night.
On the occasion of Easter, big celebrations were held in the big churches, in which the participating Christian men, women and children performed special Easter prayers, prayers for security, peace and prosperity were also offered on behalf of the Christian community.
Special liturgies were also organized in the Vatican City on the occasion of Easter.
In addition to liturgy, Easter is celebrated with music, flowers, candles, and the ringing of church bells.
Many Christians fast and confess their sins during the forty days before Easter. This period is known as Lent or Lent. Lent is an Old English word meaning spring.
Today is also considered as a memorable day for Christian families as a family reunion. Like the rest of the world, in Pakistan today, the Easter festival is being celebrated with traditional enthusiasm.
A very important festival in the Christian faith is Easter. According to the Gospel, Jesus’ body was taken down from the cross on Friday and buried. His body was kept in a cave and the mouth of the cave was covered with stone.
When some people came to this cave a day later i.e. on Sunday, they saw that the cave was not covered with stone. They also saw that the cave was empty. His disappearance was speculated on his life. Since then this day is celebrated to commemorate this event.
This day is also called the day of victory. A victory called the victory of life over death.
According to the Christian holy book, this event happened on Sunday and in Christian beliefs, Sunday is also considered as the first day of the week, so every year this festival is celebrated on Sunday. The date of Easter changes every year because it is determined by the Leo solar calendar (a lunar and solar calendar system).
Like the solar system calendar used all over the world, the Leo solar calendar also has a few leap days (eg February 29). Because of these days, just as our Eid calculations move back and forth in the solar calendar, so do the dates of Easter.
Easter is celebrated at the end of the forty days of the Christian community. The last week before Easter is known as Holy Week. This was the week in which Jesus was crucified according to the Gospel. The dates of Easter also have conflicting traditions. Some Christian denominations also celebrate Easter according to the Julian or Roman calendar. For example, the Orthodox sect will celebrate Easter on April 28 this year.
It is customary to give gifts of eggs to each other on Easter day. Eggs are given to each other on Easter because the egg is a symbol of new life. Competitions are also conducted among children in which they are rewarded for finding a hidden egg.
