The regular day of the Major Leagues has just ended, with high offensive notes for a large part of the Dominican contingent.
With two leaders in home runs, Fernando Tatis, 42 in the National and Vladimir Guerrero Jr, 48 in the American, the Quisqueyanos registered this feat for the fifth time in their history in which the two points in this line are children of this land.
On his side, Juan Soto, .313 and Vlady Jr himself, .311 were until the last two dates contesting the batting title, but both had to settle for second place in the two circuits, behind Trea Turner .328 with Nationals and the Dodgers, as well as Yulieski Gurriel, .319 with the Astros.
But, after closing the curtain, it is worth highlighting which were the Quisqueya representatives who had the best records with the stake in 2021 in which the collective batted among all the players was .244, the worst since 1968.
The El Deporte section of the Listín Diario reached a consensus among its staff and collaborators on which were the 10 most outstanding in this regard. The result was the following.
1-Vladimir Guerrero Jr: The first baseman for the Blue Jays, at 22 years of age, he finished with, without perhaps, the most impressive records that a player of his age has reached. He said goodbye with his .311 (604-188) led the circuit in six categories scored 123; home runs 48; OBP .401; Sluggins .601; OPS 1,002, Total bases .363.
2-Fernando Tatis Jr: His numbers were as outstanding as those of his compatriot, his 42 homers were produced in just 129 games in which he exhausted 464 at-bats. He also finished with 97 RBIs.
3-Rafael Devers: He ended his brilliant season with a two-homer clash with Boston to ensure his presence in the playoffs. His average of .279, 38 homers and 113 produced are more than enough to highlight his great year.
4-Juan Soto: Another young man with a stellar rank managed in the second part and reached .313. To only be surpassed by Turner. He came close to becoming the first Dominican with batting crowns in years in a row, something that only five other Hispanics, Roberto Clemente, Tony Oliva, Rod Carew, Miguel Cabrera and José Altuve have achieved among Hispanics.
5-Teoscar Hernández: Little by little he shows his great talent with the bat. This year he surpassed 100 RBIs, 116 and his 32 home runs were also his top mark, plus he finished with a solid .296.
6-José Ramírez: Despite his stature, he led some rebuilding Indians with his bat, his 36 homers, 103 RBIs and 111 scored are very remarkable in relation to the record exhibited by the club.
7-Manny Machado: Magnificent second-half records helped him finish the season well, even scoring 100 RBIs for the second time in his career, though his 28 homers made him short of 30. He hit .278 with one. single defense in the anteroom.
8-Jorge Polanco: His 98 RBIs and 33 homers became personal figures in his eight years in the great circus. He also scored 97 and averaged .269.
9- Nelson Cruz: The eternal veteran, at 41 years old, shows no signs of relegation and the best example was his 32 homers and 86 RBIs. Now he has surpassed thirty homers in eight of his last seasons and is a figure for the Rays in the AL playoffs.
10- Franmil Reyes dismisses the list of the best 10, after his 30 homers and 85 produced in 115 crashes and 418 at-bats.
Honorable Mentions: Starling Marte and his magnificent campaign in which he conned 47 bases between the Marlins and the Athletics; Willy Adames, who finished with 27 homers and was vital in Milwaukee’s standings; Jean Segura, stayed the full year with an average that was close to .300, Jeimer Candelario was co-leader in doubles with 42 and what to say about Wander Franco and his great debut this year.
Some brands
Soto’s record

Vladimir Jr with his 48 homers broke the mark of 47 that was held by Eddie Mathews for players 22 and under. Mathews had the brand since 1953.
Watch out for 500 H4
With his 32 homers, Nelson Cruz reached 449 in his career, tied with Vladimir Guerrero and although he is 41 years old he does not show signs of wear, he has 53 left, he is going for one more year and be careful if he is part of the family of hitters of 500 H4.
