What you need to know:
The Puerto Rican rapper has finished his second solo album. We know this.
The music release agenda is growing and within the Latin scene Residente’s new album is coming. The Puerto Rican had predicted it months ago, although without much detail…until now.
René Joglar – his real name – will release this album material, the second as part of his solo project, at the end of February. Here we bring the report of what is currently known.
Title of Residente’s new album
At this point it is well known Residente is a total critic of the urban genre itself and a good portion of the music currently prevalent. In this sense, the Puerto Rican constantly reports that the lyrical quality has decreased in the music industry … and it seems that he took inspiration from this for his next album.
The artist revealed this in a video published on his social networks on February 5th his new album will bear the title The letters no longer matter. Likewise, the shared clip shows us a small portion of what we might hear in the upcoming material.
We can see René during his therapy. “Did you manage to see the landscape from the top of the mountain?”says the therapist (played by Spanish actress Najwa Nimri) to the rapper, who then turns to the camera with a stare that reflects sadness and disappointment.
As the session continues, the therapist asks Joglar to imagine certain (somewhat mundane) problems being solved. But he has a doubt that certainly confuses him even more: What about the music?
So the doctor creates a utopian scenario for him in which the songs last up to 8 minutes; where silly songs, TikTok dances and influencers no longer exist… There is talk of a panorama in which music platforms do not focus on numbers, but they are aware of creativity and musical composition.
“You’re finally going to release your album after six years. What causes you the most stress are the lyrics… The lyrics are important“says the woman as Residente looks at her with a smile. Here we leave you the announcement video of The letters no longer matter.
“The Letters Don’t Matter Anymore” release date
In addition to the video, Residente’s new album already has a release date: February 22ndso they can put it on their agenda and not miss the information.
The announcement of The letters no longer matter It comes after the Puerto Rican released the song “Ron on the floor,” along with an official video that references his time on Calle 13. The song is a reflection on how his life has changed, from being a superstar to feeling irrelevant today.
But this reflection seems to lead him to a catharsis in which he assimilates everything in the best way, be aware that time passes. And so in other verses he talks about dealing with losses of all kinds, about living an intense life and how to deal with it “toast to what ends and what begins”.
In addition to the song, René has released several short films and other songs such as “Problema cabrón” in collaboration with the Argentinian rapper Wos and “I want to be a balladeer,” which it is unknown if they will be included The letters no longer matter.
What do you think of Residente’s new album? Some comments from fans on social networks suggest that the rapper would say goodbye to music with this material.
He himself has said that he doesn’t feel comfortable with what’s happening in the industry, but he hasn’t talked about retirement per se. We’ll see what happens to the former Calle 13 in the future.
