The Titans of the National District acquired this Friday from Soles de Santo Domingo Este, the veteran center-forward Manuel Guzmán, in a move with a view to the 2022 season of the National Basketball League (LNB), which begins next Tuesday 24.
Guzmán, a player of 6-9 height and 38 years old, was a member of the national top basketball team from 2006 to 2017 and LNB champion with the Leones de Santo Domingo, in the 2011 season.
He is one of the few who has scored two thousand points in the history of the LNB and was recently chosen by the specialized basketball program “Cancha Entera” and the newspaper Listín Diario, as one of the best 50 players who have shown their talent. in the district tournament (ranked no. 22).
With the tricolor team, he won gold in the 2012 Centrobasket tournament, held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and in the 2014 Central American and Caribbean tournaments, in Veracruz, Mexico; in addition, silver in the Centrobasket 2010, in Santo Domingo and bronze in the 2011 Pre-Olympic, in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
The native of the La Zurza sector of the capital, has participated in the superior basketball of the National District from 2004 to date, with the Villa Francisca, San Lázaro, El Millón and San Carlos teams, being one of the few that has managed to win twice the Most Valuable Player award of that event (2010 and 2017).
The charismatic and popular basketball player has strengthened in countries like Spain, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.
At a local level, he has played for the teams Cupes Pepines, Pueblo Nuevo, Club Domingo Paulino and Sameji, in Santiago; Juan Pablo Duarte, in La Romana; Ciro Pérez and Madre Vieja, in San Cristóbal, as well as in the tournaments of Puerto Plata, Moca and San Francisco de Macorís.
