Tina Turner joins the club of musical stars who sell the rights to all her work

Tina Turner joins the club of great musical stars who sell the rights to all their work -such as Bob Dylan or Neil Young-, in this case to BMG, and which includes hits such as “What’s love got to do with it” or “I don’t wanna lose you ”.

Turner is one of the most reliable interpreters in history, over six decades she has sold more than 100 million copies of albums. BMG has not disclosed details of the deal.

The singer, who now resides in Switzerland, has published ten studio albums throughout her life, two live, two soundtracks and half a dozen compilations.

The agreement implies that BMG will be a partner in all the musical rights of Tina Turner, and includes her recordings, her activity as a songwriter, her name and image, among others. Warner Music will remain his record company.

“Tina Turner’s musical journey has inspired hundreds of millions of people around the world and continues to reach new audiences. We are honored to take on the job of managing Tina Turner’s business and musical interests. It is a responsibility that we take seriously and will diligently follow", says in the statement, Hartwig Masuch, CEO of BMG.

The singer, who has won twelve Grammy Awards throughout her career, joins the long list of singers who in recent years have sold the rights to her legacy.

BMG represents or owns rights to the work of other iconic artists such as Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Mick Fleetwood, Roger Waters, Kurt Cobain, Blondie, David Bowie or Iron Maiden.

The most notorious case was that of Bob Dylan, who last year sold the rights to his work – more than 600 songs – to Universal Music for $ 300 million last year, the highest agreement in history.
